ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Today, we talked about how we either bullying each other or give information. Trashed on Superstraights, and talked about how we love taverns. Our topic was Pride History. Our Music today was, Lo-fi Type Beat - Missing Memories, fly - Lofi Hip Hop Beat, escapism - Lofi Hip Hop Beat, Fading Away - Lofi Hip Hop Beat

It is covid season. Welcome to house of cards. My name is Simon and we're gay as podcast. I'm avery and I use her pronounce and I've got a scrunchy on my wrist. Sexy. Oh Shit, my pronouns. Are She there? Sorry, my aim is not existent. Apparently my name is redacted. I don't actually exist, guys. I'm actually a fundamental imaginative fredro of, Simona and avery, and the podcast doesn't actually use this. These are just a bunch of a codings. They fake to Oh my gosh, SOMEBODY'S FRIEND TO TRANS MY gender today and I got really scary. Anyway, what I'm Jackson. I use the he it. You know, I don't care. Okay, pronounce. I have a major headache and I'm pretty sure it's in the region of the brain that means I'm behind rated. Drink water. Part I don't have any water. Go get no, Simone Comote. Oh yeah, okay, okay, quick. Sorry. You can find us on Instagram at House of cards underscore podcast, on twitter at lgbt underscored deck, on Patreon, as house of cards are, Tumbler is its house of cards and our website is big. That is disgusting. Thank you very much. Yes, you, fuck you very much, Jackson. Take us into your bullet point here on the gay agenda now. Huh, right, I literally just saw the post on twitter. So, hello, this is actually something that's very serious. I'm going to get into serious mode. So, if you don't know, there's the thing going on. Tick Tock. It's been about two weeks by the time this episode is posted. But again we post two days or two weeks later, we might be a little late. But Super Straights, what are they? Why can? Why we cannot support them? superstrate, just in the closet. Super Strates are, I made up sexuality like Peto Pedo Sexuality and necro sexuality. Both are not. Yeah, none of them are real sexualities that are accepted by the oldbt community. superstrates are included in that. They believe that they like when somebody has the female set ex organs, which is not necessarily make them a woman or a man. Oh No, there's there's some. They're super straight story girls as well. Yeah, that that. Oh and mail. Sorry, the that's I was just going bit and mail. Sorry, yeah, sorry like that. I meant that. I just it's mostly been males because males. I'm over toxic community. Anyway, I love that you, as a male, said that. It's true. We are, we are we almost publicly rude. Yeah, and like, have you seen God get into it on like you're the comment section. We're not salinity right now. That's not the issue. That's next. that. That would be a put that down every next week. All thing toxic Max here key, because that we can serve everything. Take it down anyway. Sorry. They basically they are transphobic. It's from Tobia. So that's why you shouldn't support them. Is They are transphobic. They the disgusting though, disgusting, and the logic is back far...

...because technically they, if a trans man has not yet transitioned, soger, surgic kick sogerly like sug thank you. Technically they fall under the category if you could date them as a super straight. It's just a made up sexuality so people can feel happy about being transphobic. Oh my gosh, I saw this theory. Actually, quickly, before you go on, quickly, we can get to disgusting to that quickly, if you on, Tick Tock, because we know some people don't, but if you are, I've had has eat. Its Use name is Kylo Royce, which is K why? Nope, yes, sorry, Kay fly La. Ah, Oh why? See? That may not be exactly correct, but that is what is here right now. If you are LGBT or LGBT Alley, block them, report them. They are being triphobic and the platforms need to be taken down. Block, report, hunt for sport. Oh my God, Oh my Jesus, that was wow. Can we tell? Sorry, I'm thinking about we in the recent episode that was posted pub should go watch it again. Everyone on basically like a five minute talk, which you just talked about Jesus, did I? Ah, you're look, I made Jesus, and then you want to know what Jesus looks like and then you're like Amen, Jesus, head, shoulders, knees and wait, wait, before I forget. Okay, so I saw this theory circulating about the Super Straights. So the theory is their flag is grinder colors, they have to announce that they are super straight and they have fragile masculinity or femininity. They're all just closeted vibe or or hear me out. Hear me out. They're transphobic and don't actually know, but the gay community. So don't know that that's the grinder colors. They know it's the grinder colors. I don't know they grinder colors exactly. I know because of not everybody knows. Is there a yellow colors? But like, okay, no matter if they'll close it, if they're not cause it it, no matter what, because day people can be caused it to gay people can be caused it to anyone can be cause of it. It does not matter. What they are doing is transphobic and it is something we cannot support and needs to stop now. Yeah, being posted. It's it's not an excuse to be an ass hat. You have pushed way too far in the LGBT community and it this is really just backtracking, and so any LGBT Boson who supports it, I hate to say it, and not valid as fuck, because super straight on not valid as fuck. They are not the amount of people that I've met, like abroad, that I had to unfriend because of Oh yeah, I just yeah, no, I actually tweeted that because you should check out our twitter, which is at lgbt deck underscored back. I'm just at at LGBT. I'm just death. You should follow it, because I said with that super strates not valid as fuck. This next point on our agenda, it's actually kind of already getting into the topic, which is going to be pride history. So like pride origins, where it came from, who started it? What? Who? where, round and...

...why? We're getting into the whole who, what, when, where, a why about pride and why. I already said that. I'm going to stay with it. Okay. Do you want to say with the discussion? Yeah, so, yeah, before we get into the topic, kind of as an opener, and this is inspired from an article that I found called what does pride mean to you? So I thought that maybe I'm the three of us, we could all face a little something about like what pride is for us, and because pride is a whole bunch of things. It's an emotion, it's a feeling from it's like an aspect of yourself, and it's also this worldwide community. I just want to say, if you are not imagining avery in a La teacher outfit with a cart again in an La teacher room with all of us in so in, a so call and a very grab books have been together, will saying this? You are you Virginie a podcast wrong. This is literally this is the lily and La Discussion. Okay, kids, today you'll be writing about what does pride mean to you? Oh my God, I want to teach you what. Oh my God, please be my la teacher next year. Dude, I wish. Literally, I feel like I exist here just to like Simone existed to make fun of me. Now I existed on both of you. I just bully both of you. You're just a bitch. Next episode that will be posted, which would have been posted two weeks ago, I put we bullied Simone. That was the first thing I said. The podcast was just me and every bullying sman. We love you, though. What is cry to you? As a very rapshore, white caught again together and sips her hot tea in the middle of an last school Wad Novels Getting Ready, I'm I am why to sell you to one direction. I throwing my messy hair into a bun. That's what pride means to me. I'm pretty, but not too pretty, like I don't know it, you're just not. Yeah, so who I know it? Get back to really teach. Your Voice will good once you go first. Oh my God, I am an ellen who wants to go forth. I raise smone's hand for someone to go first. Oh well, now we're we're playing. This is we're changing topics, guys, this is an role playing parts some moon debby running ear Texas she giggles to wow, oh my godd I'm just purky, I guess. Okay, so, and I kind of said some of this stuff when, when I was writing this episode, I went on to our text chat and I started ranting about how proud I was to be part of the LGBT community. It was a wild ride. But yeah, personally, pride is pride as part of your identity. I feel like I'm thinking Samon goes next. I okay, some minds. Mind's a little bit funny because you know I'm kind of a clown anyways, so like a yeah, okay. So, anyways, pride unlocks, like the word pride specifically unlocks. Is Very odd memory in my mind that I didn't remember until five minutes ago, which is super sexy. anyways, the first person I ever came out too, it was like a week after pride or whatever. I was like Hey, whatever, I'm by, and...

...then they were like, Oh my God, wait, hang on, I have something for you. And they had like gone to pride like the week prior whatever. They pull a dental damn and a condom and hand both of them to me. Oh my God, what a beautiful memory. And like that's so on land and if you're watching this, I love you, Jackson, and best stee Jackson. You what best stee Jackson? Hellas you know, I'm in DM DMODE. I'm DM Jackson. How dare you? Okay, sorry, sorry. What is pride mean to meet? Good question. To be completely honest, I don't think pride can be described to someone. It's not something that is universally like. You can't say what it is. It's just you can't really describe it. No, let me finish speaking bitch. We talked about this. Stop Interrupting. No, it's yeah, it's no, it's nothing. You can just you can describe what pride is, but that's not what pride is, because pride is an individual it's individualism, and even when you're in the lowest point of your entire life, there's still some pride in you eat no matter what. I'm not talking about gay pride. I'm really just pride as in being able to be proud of something else. So pride is very similar to hope in that it's always there and it's always going to be there, and even when you hate every when you think you hate everything about yourself, it's still there and it's never going to leave. It's coming for you run, it's coming screen. So I was gonna gonna say that was Beaut real fun. I had to make it funny. It was beautiful. I loved it. I'm with that. Do you want to lead us into it? No, too bad. Europe first, the Olgi t community, Lgbtq community, has been around as long as anyone can remember. And if you're thinking it didn't come into the S, look at the Greeks. The wrong look at a history. Was the spore of like the the moment that caused this monumental pride that kind of created and allowed identification as the LGBT Q plus community. Today we are going to be talking about the history of pride month. The whole who win? Where we and why? As if we had said before, maybe apparently looks for beat themselves with such for years of struggle for civil rights and equal juice justice, the members of the LGB Q plus community, gry Canada, the United States, Australia, Brazil, Greenland and the city of Bowland have faced. There's a lot more, but those are the ones that we're talking about today. There's for the countries. Yeah, those are yeah, we will touch on why pride month is celebrated in June and how long. Sorry, Avery wrote this beginning paragraph really strange. I'm just like the English teacher. Wow, like I went through every other paragraph. It was like written really well, but the fourth bio grap its like drunk a free roms the Sony Book. How did you get from there today? My methods are beyond your understanding. Literally,...

...wine, we were mine. I don't if you're already drunk. We don't want is a natural fid month is celebrated in June and has and how it has a long acquired hundreds of celebrations and parades members. I cannot say this and sound like our normal human. I just amly correct. So we will talk a why pride it's celebrated in June and how it has acquired these celebrations and parades for the members that exist within it and within it, but those who also support the LGBTQ plus community that took forever. But okay, okay, the organized pursuit of Gay Rights in the United States reaches back to at least one thousand nine hundred and twenty four, so probably earlier, but like you know, you, Um, it was sound not even about like Usu. anyways, okay, with the founding of these is society of Human Rights. However, that was like catalyzed, like started in June of one thousand nine hundred and sixty nine at stonewell in of New York City's Greenwick village, located at fifty three Christopher Street Greenwick village. Stonewell in is a gay bar and recreational tavern, which is the best word in the world, tavern. Just have I for amaculate. I know, okay, Um, okay. So in this tavern it like the most influential event that led to gay liberation happened in this tavern. In the early hours of June twenty eight, one thousand nine hundred and sixty nine, stonewall was rated by police, a WHO cleared the bar, arrested the employees and roughed up, literally beat the fuck up, a lot of customers who were there because it was a gay bar, you know, like yeah, okay. Um. As the victims were being herded into police fans, patrons, led by Trans and fem women of color, became enraged and began jeering police to the point that police were forced to barricade themselves like the little pass babies that they are. We said a cab. We all say a CAP CO MOM and I'll say it again up. Queer and non gender conforming people of Color led similar riots in response to police brutality at the haven in New York, Cooper donuts and the black cat tavern in La and Compton's cafeteria in San Francisco. You thought that was standing the sentence, didn't you know? Yeah, I did, free even so, you reply the scripturally. Now getting into one of my absolute favorite figures in history. Do you know? I say it's one to a self? I totally did. I totally did. Every gives herselves all the good ones. I yeah, guiltiest charged. Anyways, one of the most prominent figures of the stonewall riot is Marcia p Johnson, and African American, Trans, Gay, liberalist and self identified drag Queen. Marcia is said to have instigated the riot when she cried out. I got my civil rights and through what is now known as the shot glass, I was heard around the world, into a mirror. This led to hundreds of spectators and neighboring bargoers and customers to join in on the riots. And, like, these got so powerful. Yes, these got so powerful and moving that some actions included the breaking...

...of windows, setting cars on fire and injuring and estimated three out of approximately eight police officers. As they should, as they should. But yeah, keep in mind, like, these are all people who are just trying to love each other and be themselves and and and have pride. And Yeah, police brutality, we do not vibe for it. It is not valid as fuck. Um, it's a valid but it didn't follow up the stone wall to valid Um and actually lasting between five and six days. The Stone Wall in then became the first LGBC site in the United States to be listed on the National Register of historic places in one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine and was named a national historic landmark in two thousand. Fun fact, I want to go there for my twenty one birthday. Oh my God, we can. I come. You will? You won't be old enough, honey, yeah, we don't. I will do you not know? I would never do that. I'll just eat. Yeah, we can just eat. We'll get yeah vibe. Anyway, the one year anniversary spoke the fourth widespread pride March, as hundred of demonstrators March Down Chris, the Fourth Street. Why is Christopher? Oh, it's the on Christopher. Sorry, why did you say that time? What the fuck? which houses the Stone Wall? In in one thousand nine hundred and seventy eight, perhaps the most prominent symbol of gay pride made its debut in San Francisco. The Rainbow Pride flag stand. I'm hoping you're all envisioning the pride flag and then meet with holy light and me going on, you know, like Jesus. She's like you. This the original flake Jesus like it from shameless when he committed Erson. I've never seen that show spiral should. The original flag has eight colors and was designed by San Francisco's artist Gilbert Baker. The costs had meaning actually him. So hot pink was symbolized sexuality. Read with symbolized symbolized life. Orange for healing, yellow was for the Sun. Why The Sun? That's I don't know, but money. I cry as me I get that because nature is like, you know, gays, you're sexy. Blue for ought, because we're all autists when we talk about sexuality. Indigo for harmony, because, let's be honest, all we want is peace and pople for spirit, which is, I feel like spirit also conter uptons pride, because your spirit is connected to your pride. All that anyway, though, its colors of the original gay pride flag. Me another fun fact. When I was a when I found this information, I actually almost cried because I was like, Oh my God, there's meaning to it. There's meaning. It's not like a random rainbow. It's not just a rainbow. It's not just a rainbow, and I became so like overwhelmed and I was like now I need a flag. Literally every single gay ever when they realized but the pride flag. Guess I need a flag. I need a flag. I got a tiny one, but that's not enough one. I have a tiny one that my dog really loves. I have a big one that goes over my TV. I need fun flag. Okay, some of it's your turn, by the way. Right, all right, cool pride is not exclusive to America. Hundreds of cities celebrate pride month every single year with thousands of parades and marches, all...

...with their own unique history of lgbt inclusion and a quality. So like literally all over the world, there is pride, there's pride month, there's marches, there's parades, there's everything. It's a fun time. In Canada, LGBT Power Day began on May fourteen, when Canada decriminalized homosexuality. Wait, what year was that? HMM, doesn't matter, but it says in all next sentence. Okay, the official decriminalization received Royal Ascent on June twenty seven, exactly one day before the stonewall riots. Is One of the first. Oh, wedding. Yeah, Canada's better. No, we have a lot of issues, but you know, then a merriw better, like slightly, lolows. Well, pretty close. When you look deep we all pretty close anyway. I can get better for gay people. Yeah, okay, anyways, Um, one of the first occasions that an LGBT event received press coverage was when Lesbian's Adrian Rosen, Pat Murphy, sue wells and Lamar van Dyke were thrown out of a Toronto Bar and detained. I feel like my sound effects I totally did. Okay, thank you, shit I was taking all right, team were like, I'm taking out by and visilord. Okay. These women became the Brunswick for the following court trials raised lgbt awareness and harassment and fueled the growing lgbtq two plus rights movement. The latest win for Canadian members of the lgbt community is the criminalization of conversion therapy, which had its first reading in the house of comments on March Ninth, two thousand and twenty. You can find more on Queer Canadian history at Queer Vence dot see. Canada's Canada slash pride history. Oh, a fun fact. The mayor of the city that I live in, it's very gay, he is yeah, and I met him at a mother's Day Walk and run and he was walking with his boyfriend and I was walking with my mom and my grandma. I love that so much. Right, that's the best thing to say. Like the link will also be in description of this podcast, just so if you want to just click it, you can't anyway, contains I love clicking things. anyways. I know, I'm sorry, I'm plowy. Pride is both a universal and individual movement. It's something that's part of you. So what. It's something that's part of you spiritually and emotionally, and like it's intrinsically recognized in you. It's so hard to explain, but I think the best that I can try to do is how I tried to explain it earlier, was that I felt so prideful and I felt so empowered that it all felt like just a big spool of warmth in my chest, like something was igniting me for my whole entire mind, my body, my soul, and it just made me want to be like just exist and proud, seculy, so...

...sexy. Additionally, there have been momentous gains for the LGBT community and like it's our will that these winds will continue to spread for centuries upon centuries upon like millenniums, because, like, the sad part is is that we are still fighting every day for more rights, off for more justice, for more inclusion and, like a lot of marginalized communities, that that's unfortunately the reality that we live in right now, and that's part of why pride is so important. So, to look at this more, there's an article on Willamette Week titled What Does Pride Mean To you? And, like it's only one example of the inspiration that the LGB can, the LGBT community, has had on the world. And you know, we just have to keep growing it, we have to keep nurturing it. So be proud, be strong, spread pride and remember that you are valid as fuck. Unless you're not. Looks, you're not a Kay if you are supper straight, super straight, knublic, any PHOBIC, if you hate it's by yeah, it's Today. We wanted a bit of a ramble, but so we're gonna end off a little earlier so we don't end up with another fifteen minute podcast wolf flashbacks, but we hope to see you next week. If not, well, we hope you have a good rest of your life. Anything else to add? Guys, V it is fuck. I'm maybe will watch house MD. Okay, guys, see you later. By Bye.
